Pop stars come and go, but really, not many of them are all that significant.
Chuck Berry was. He had a very big role (the biggest?) in inventing and articulating the rebelliousness that defined the emerging baby boomer generation.
He wrote the songs. He played them. Everyone covered them.
Without him, many of the big rock and roll acts that followed him would have been very different.
